A New HOA Book Comes Out

More and more people who’ve been burned by their Homeowners Associations are going public with their horror stories. The latest is from a resident of Las Vegas, Robert Stern. His book is entitled, “HOA Wars: What Happens in Vegas Can Happen Anywhere.”

Stern owns several houses in different parts of the country. But because he travels among them he’s run afoul of HOA boards that raise complaints that a Stern home isn’t being properly maintained. This, despite the fact that he pays dues which are supposed to pay for property maintenance. For retired people (who are often the ones targeted by abusive HOAs) being a snowbird can be dangerous. Some HOAs, notably in Nevada, have actually outlawed homeowners who aren’t full time residents.

Yes, folks, the HOA movement is getting scary. But it’s encouraging to see more and more people step up and tell the world about their own HOA nightmares.

“You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something sometime in your life.” -Winston Churchill

He has won more than 70 national and regional awards for Excellence in Journalism, Creative Writing and community involvement. His new book, "Neighbors At War: the Creepy Case Against Your Homeowners Association," is now available for purchase. From scams to outright violence to foreclosures and neighborhood collapses across the country, the reader will find this book enormously compelling and a necessary read for every homeowner. Knowledge is self-defense. No homeowner contemplating life in an HOA should neglect reading this book. No HOA board officer should overlook this examination of the pitfalls in HOA management. And no lawyer representing either side in an HOA dispute should gloss over what homeowners are saying or believing about the lawsuit industry.

It is great that more HOA homeowners like Robert Stern are publishing their outrageous and costly experiences in mis-managed HOAs. Lets face is, some HOA boards and their accomplices are outright criminals. Robert Stern did an On the Commons interview with Shu Bartholomew, on November 24th, 2014. The interview can be heard at any time on Onthecommons.us, or Onthecommons.net. I encourage everyone to listen to Robert Stern’s interview. One thing Robert Stern discusses is the fortitude one must have for standing up to abusive HOA boards. Costly lawsuits most can not afford, and that one must have the “stomach” for the backlash for standing up to the HOA boards for their abuses, and/or their financial mis-management. The bulling, harassment, slapp lawsuits and the range of retaliatory abuses abusive HOA boards inflict upon innocent homeowners is unthinkable to most. The reality is no American should have to endure these horrific and many times greed driven criminal abuses and have to have the stomach to stand up to it! These abuses and property thefts are despicable and the predators and perpetrators of the HOA crimes need to be charged, prosecuted and required to see that their victims are rectified. Rectified emotionally and financially. The HOA victims deserve justice!
