HOA Humor From A Realtor

guest blog by Nila Ridings

Rarely, do we find someone selling real estate who admits that HOAs are insane. Thankfully, this one broke the mold.

While these Top 10 items are true, it’s just a start.  I can think of at least 90 more.  How about you?

For those who say, “There’s nothing to laugh about in an HOA!”  I agree.  But looking for some humor in your HOA insanity is about the only way to stay sane.

His new book, "Neighbors At War: the Creepy Case Against Your Homeowners Association," is now available for purchase. From scams to outright violence to foreclosures and neighborhood collapses across the country, the reader will find this book enormously compelling and a necessary read for every homeowner. Knowledge is self-defense. No homeowner contemplating life in an HOA should neglect reading this book. No HOA board officer should overlook this examination of the pitfalls in HOA management. And no lawyer representing either side in an HOA dispute should gloss over what homeowners are saying or believing about the lawsuit industry.

He forgot the one about children are not allowed to play in the street! An HOA in Florida is trying to limit the areas where children can play. Really, does anyone think the board members who sanction these type of rules are mentally stable?

    Holly,

Just some thoughts…thinking about the percentage of people who serve on HOA boards and their ages. Think about the percentage of that age group that consumes massive amounts of prescription drugs on a daily basis. Makes one wonder… could there be correlation between the two? Is the answer that board members must have criminal background checks and drug testing? It’s probably not a bad idea.

Perhaps I am looking for excuses? I just want to believe that these evil bullies on so many HOA boards have not waited until the dawn of their lives to take out their life’s misery as a form of revenge on their neighbors.
