Stoopid HOA Buyers

I have enormous sympathy for people who buy into an HOA. Heck, I was dumb enough to do the same thing. Three times! But in retrospect, I was STOOPID! I was a lamb among the wolves. Never had a clue.

The biggest unreported financial crime in America is embezzlement from an HOA. The following story isn’t even extraordinary, it happens in city after city, day after day. But homeowners (like me) are just too witless to ‘get it.’ The HOA scam is beyond any reasonable explanation. If you’ve bought an HOA property you’ve just donated your life savings to a massive national criminal enterprise that the government will never investigate, expose, or end. Kiss your life savings, ‘Goodbye.’

If you live in a non-HOA neighborhood, fall in love with those boat trailers, the purple front doors, the obnoxious lawn ornaments. Your life savings are protected. Your investment will continue to grow. And feel a modicum of pity for the ritzy people on the other side of the street.

His new book, "Neighbors At War: the Creepy Case Against Your Homeowners Association," is now available for purchase. Knowledge is self-defense. No homeowner contemplating life in an HOA should neglect reading this book. No HOA board officer should overlook this examination of the pitfalls in HOA management. And no lawyer representing either side in an HOA dispute should gloss over what homeowners are saying or believing about the lawsuit industry.

Hi Ward I really appreciate your efforts in fighting against HOAs. You are one of the few who has taken on this massive fraud and are a beacon of light to all of us who are fighting their HOAs. I am here in Houston and have my own war against them . Recently by accident I found out 2 board members got on Board without being owners or record. When I checked with the management company who was in charge of our election they admitted that they knew and let them participate in the election and winning it by proxy votes!!

I complained against them to CAI which did exactly nothing. All this with one-contractor bidding same-contractor and very expensive bids have made life a living hell here.

I for one and I know there are many many more really appreciate you and your efforts specially being a TV anchor and have the position to lend your voice to people’s complaint which see theft on a daily basis. This is a legal organized crime.

    Thank you,

HOAs are totally out of control! The ones elected are freebirds who run for a board without any legal oversight, background checks, and simply do their thing once elected . Hence “the rules dont apply to me club”. The abuse and corruption is rampant . The buddy favors and selective enforcement is unbelievable. These unregulated entities have the power to harass and oust someone out of their home over a neighbor dispute on CCR regulation that are selectively enforced. Its like mafia meets schoolyard gangbanging at its finest with the victims left with no other option to fight or to leave.
Folks are afraid of saying anything lest they become the community target. This is BS plain and simple.
Reform is needed to stop this homeowner abuse.
