Expect a ton of money to be poured into the pockets of Massachusetts legislators over the next week. What’s up? The State Senate has agreed to a ‘common sense’ bill to order condo associations to pay the legal costs of homeowners who have to sue to get financial records.
A homeowner has an absolute right to see the association’s financial documents, budgets and insurance policies. It’s basic common sense, especially for homeowners who are trying to sell their homes and move out. Mortgage companies require it. The current law mandates that those records be made available. But there’s no penalty for corporate deviants who decide they’re above such puerile requirements.
The current problem is that the bill is stalled. If the Massachusetts House doesn’t get off its collective rear end, or if a lobbyist in a legislative hallway waves a few thousand bucks around, this bill may fail due to official disinterest.
California is going through one of the worst droughts in its history, the state is massively short of water. But the city of Glendora, a suburb of L.A., is threatening to fine a homeowner whose lawn is ‘too brown.’ The couple admits they scaled back their lawn watering because of state-wide emergency orders to conserve water.
Michael Korte and Laura Whitney have been given 60 days to green up their lawn. If they don’t they’ll get bashed with fines of up to $500.
Gosh, Homeowners Associations all over California have been threatening homeowners with fines bigger than that for brown lawns. Where’s the leadership?
The Windemere Condo Association in Will County, Illinois is facing a big embezzlement. At last count they were missing about $150,000.
The suspect? The guy now under arrest and facing charges of embezzlement? Oh, he was just the Condo Association’s president.
A Grand Jury says Bob Dorosz has been stealing since January of 2007.
One last thing: The police report on his arrest says his home address is….. homeless.
But apparently, she doesn’t have much upstairs to brag about. Once again she and her cohorts in the State Legislature have passed what appears to be an illegal law and have gotten Governor Blondie to sign it.
The last time she did this, the law was thrown out by the state courts as being unconstitutional. The Arizona Constitution clearly states that the title of a law must reflect the content of the bill.
But once again, Blondie and the Bimbo have taken a hodgepodge of ‘stuff’ and jammed it into an intentionally misleading title. Now we learn that another lawsuit has been filed against this crowd.
Yes, she’s still cute.
But do the people of Arizona ever get embarrassed by the idiots they keep electing?
An HOA apologize to someone it’s wronged? When pigs fly!
But that’s exactly what happened when the Fieldstone Homeowners Association ticketed an 81 year old Navy veteran for using the American flag as an “inappropriate curtain.”
When the Post Falls American Legion announced it would support the vet’s right to display the flag from inside his home, the HOA board quickly crawled back down its hole, saying it would rescind the violation and even apologize to the veteran.
Yes, some pigs can fly. Not often. But it’s a beautiful sight to see.
