BTW, for you skeptics who think your HOA isn’t capable of spying on your intimate behavior, be assured they can…and will. Homeowners Associations are all about monitoring intimate behavior and micro-managing your life. With that in mind, the story linked below might blow your mind.

It’s about a Texas family who discovered that someone was able to hack into an off-the-shelf baby monitor, eavesdrop on every sound in the house, and even manipulate the camera to take a look at things around the room, AND CALL THE BABY BY NAME!

My friends, baby monitors operate on just a few public radio and TV frequencies. They can be hacked by a school kid. Just YouTube “how to hack a baby monitor” and look at your results!

Some homeowners describe it as such. But when HOAs lawyers advise it to do the kind of thing linked in the video below, it’s worse than a scourge. It’s actionable illegal conduct. What if this homeowner had to leave home to attend to an emergency at a local hospital? This would be a lawsuit with no bottom line on damages. This lawsuit could cost the HOA millions and millions of dollars.

Stupid lawyers.

Nevada, where HOA bigwigs have been smacked with dozens of federal indictments and convictions for racketeering, is now leading the nation in trying to offer due process to homeowners. It’s only a proposal in the Nevada Real Estate Division, but what a concept!

Due process.

It’s just a handful of words in some obscure part of the Constitution.

But it’s almost beyond comprehension that Nevada homeowners might someday have real access to the Bill of Rights.

Where do these pompous, perfect, self-centered, and heartless people come from?  Can we take up a donation and buy all of them a one-way ticket to Uranus?

Here comes Florida with more of their stupidity!  But this time, Broward County has stepped up and sued the HOA on behalf of Dorothy Davis because she is frail, blind, hard of hearing, and a ninety-year-old condo resident.  
 
Nittany is the German Shepard seeing eye dog that will be working for her.  Her nasty neighbors in the Southpoint Condominium Association claim the dog is a pet and yelled at it so much during the critical training period it is now afraid of people!
 
At her age, Dorothy didn’t need the harassment of these insensitive morons so she moved to Delray Beach. SMART LADY!  Leaving in her wake Southpoint owners who should be preparing to transfer their retirement savings over to her when the jury at the federal courthouse hands down their decision!  
 
Way to go, Dorothy!  Hats off to you, Broward County!

Whew, the webs we weave when first we practice to deceive (Sir Walter Scott, 1808).

Now that marijuana for medicinal AND personal use has been legalized in several states, grow operations are bound to be taking place very near you.  A next door grow-op will certainly affect your property values, right? And a Homeowners Association will make sure that never happens to you, right?

Wrong, Bunky. One of the biggest lies in American life is that your Homeowners Association protects your property values. There’s not a scientific study in the nation that shows HOAs protect property values. And there are lots of studies that show HOAs  crash property values (think Trayvon Martin’s neighborhood!).

But the growers of grass, weed, Hawaiian black, Indian hemp, jolly green, wacky weed, are looking for a safe place to grow theirs. The safest place in the world is a private home right smack dab in the middle of a Homeowners Association. They’re usually pretty safe. And if they’re not growing ‘skunk’, you’d probably never even notice.

Surely your HOA will protect you against such things as illegal next- door grow-ops. But…if they don’t? How are your property values will do once the police raid gets publicized?
