At ninety-one years old, a WWII veteran didn’t have a legal battle on his “bucket list.”
Thanks to his smart, love-filled granddaughter, Jaclyn and the outpouring of donations she acquired via the internet, John Potter will now get to stay in the Ohio home he’s lived in for more than half a century.
Thank you for your service to our great nation Mr. Potter. Because of you, the spirit of America has proven to still be alive.
Oh, and this time it wasn’t an HOA seizing a home. It was Potter’s only daughter! What a cautionary tale for all of us.
Sorry, this has nothing to do with goofy Homeowners Associations, it’s just about a goofy neighbor. And it’s so bizarre I can’t pass it up with comment.
Yes, there are unbelievably crazy neighbors out there. And they live just down the block from you! In a million years, you wouldn’t be able to predict how crazy they are.
LOL! I’ve been around peacocks. They’re nasty-tempered birds with a huge beak that can severe a man’s finger if not something else. It’s just a horrible shame this peacock didn’t have better aim against his owner.
Neighbor disputes get incredibly nasty. But when one of the parties in a dispute is a bulldozer owner who’s a little mentally unbalanced, that’s when things get really bizarre.
I don’t know the background of this dispute. But a Port Angeles, Washington homeowner was so furious with neighbors that he used a bulldozer to raze their homes.
It’s not the first time a bulldozer has been used to settle a neighbor dispute, either. The last time this happened was in Granby, Colorado in 2006. Linked below are the stories on the Port Angeles, Washington bulldozer. The second linked is the 2006 Colorado bulldozer.
Someday, neighbors might learn to be neighbors.
On second thought, naw that’ll never happen. The first neighborhood dispute involved a couple of guys named Cain and Abel. Christians and Jews will know those two names. For the rest of you, look it up.
Jeff German of the Las Vegas Review Journal is one of the few who’s done ongoing stellar work in reporting on the massive Nevada HOA scandal. If there are still any skeptics in America who think I’ve been exaggerating about the American HOA Movement being rife with old fashioned organized crime, then please follow German’s reporting.
Governor Rick Perry talks frequently about how tort reform in Texas has turned around a medical malpractice crisis.
Possibly it did work. But after reading the article linked below, ask yourself if deceptive HOA fines, liens and foreclosures in Texas shouldn’t attract the same kind of reform?
Texas is one of the top states where the HOA system has deprived homeowners of fundamental Constitutional rights.
I used to live in Texas. In fact, I grew up with the ‘Blue Book’ which was required reading for all Texas elementary school students. It taught Texas kids to be proud of their state’s revolutionary heritage and to question authority. Back then it was a thing of pride to be a Texan. But that was before the HOA Movement put millions of Texas homeowners in a death grip.
If you know someone who lives in a Texas HOA, ask him or her if they’ve observed out-of-control HOA boards and ridiculous fines and lawsuits. Or give them to link to my blog from last night about the San Antonio man who’s facing $200,000 in fines and legal fees for not keeping his grass short enough.
Come on, Governor Perry. Do the right thing! Get your HOA lawyers under control, too!
