Everybody Loves A Party!

Some fascinating posters are going around the Internet right now. Remember CAI? The Community Associations Institute? These are the good folks who run America’s managed neighborhoods, handing out excessive fines for minor violations, and hiring lawyers to file liens and lawsuits to take away your homes. They’re the ones who have predatory tow trucks cruising your streets and towing away cars that don’t belong there, like those of friends and relatives. These are the folks who are now doing mandatory DNA cheek swabs on the neighborhood pets, so fines can be handed for each unscooped poop. They are faux governments that have more power than traditional governments. And they don’t recognize such niceties as the Constitution’s Bill of Rights.

Oh, and they’re also the ones who madly lobby the Legislatures to make sure Homeowners can never reclaim the Consitutional rights they’ve lost to the modern HOA Movement. And these folks make an amazing amount of money….ALL OF IT from you!

When you have that kind of money, what do you do with it?

Just scroll down and see how appropriate the upcoming Arizona party season seems.

CAI-1Casino Night PosterRemember just a few months back when the TSA got hammered for spending taxpayers’ money in this same way?

Ah, but Congress has government oversight over the TSA. Congress has no such oversight over Homeowners Associations.

Go figure.

Hey, You Brats! Inside! This Is An HOA!

by Guest Blogger Nila Ridings

Nearly everyday I see something about “Let’s move!” America’s move to raise a healthier generation of kids. Well, that program seems to apply only to kids outside of Boca Quay, Florida.

With the new “no wheels” policy, kids in the Boca Quay Homeowners Association are probably supposed to sit inside on their computers honing their cyber-bullying skills!

This battle-ax of a board member hides behind a door when the TV cameras show up and yells, “No comment!” She had plenty to say in a letter warning homeowners to keep their kids inside, but “No comment” for the news media?

Where does this anti-kid attitude come from? It probably stems from the flood of lawsuits against HOAs where someone gets hurt. Tort lawyers have sure messed up the neighborhood, haven’t they?

When I was growing up, all the neighborhood kids played on the street. We rode our bicycles. Sure, there was the time when I went airborne over the handlebars of my pink Schwinn and messed up my face on the asphalt. But I didn’t sue the neighborhood. None of my friends ever sued the neighborhood after their own mishaps.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a proponent of kids playing on the Interstate. But childhood is all about being with your friends, and playing outside.

When you click on the link below, pay special attention to the little girl who says, “These people don’t know what freedom is!”

Honey, we all know what freedom WAS. But that was back before the nightmare known as Homeowners Associations.

So Many Important Things Right Now!

I guess it all happens at once. But there are some terrible HOA bills in the Colorado Legislature right now. This Legislature just meets for a 90-day session each year, and Colorado routinely turns out some very poorly thought out legislation that takes years to correct.

Colorado’s Homeowners Rights hero is Stan Hrincevich (try to pronounce that name!), but this guy is a real warrior in the fight against HOA injustice. Isn’t it interesting that legislatures across the country are finally hearing about the hideousness of the money machine that backs up Homeowners Associations?

Jan Bergemann, Our Hero!

Jan Bergemann describes himself as a retired chef from Germany. I’ve never tasted his recipes but I have long admired his hubris in standing up to the national disgrace known as Homeowners Associations.

Jan, not in a million years would I have thought this bill would pass out of the Florida Legislature’s Rules Committee. How the heck did you pull this off? Florida has some of the worst HOA nightmare stories in the country. But somehow, someone, somewhere is starting to pay attention.

Congratulations!

Still, I remain a skeptic about this bill actually becoming law. If it does, I’ll start a movement to build a monument to Cyber Citizens For Justice (ccfj.org).

Very Important Read!

George Staropoli is one of the most astute and most articulate people in the national Homeowners Rights movement. The link below is his take on the historic HOA battle going on in North Carolina. Have everyone you know read his post!
