Are You Kidding Me? Nevada, Are You Nutz?!?!?!?

I would have made a rotten fiction writer. Just about the time I dreamed up the wildest possible plot, some actual news story would break that wrecked my work of fiction. And Ladies & Gents? It’s happened again and this one’s a whopper. But it’s all true.

This month, the U.S. Attorney is scheduled to go to trial in one of the biggest public corruption cases in history. Thirty crooks have already pleaded guilty. And they’ll be testifying against nine of their former friends in the HOA corruption case. Organized crime involving racketeering, money laundering, mail fraud, election fraud and about fifty other federal charges. There are even some hints about connections with a Mexican drug cartel! The bad guys are police officials, attorneys, politicians, a TV star, well-known public figures.

Now, two of the most prominent politicians in Nevada (who are also under investigation for public corruption) are going to monkey skip right under the limbo pole. “How low can you go? Everybody limbo, now!”

Yep, the Department of Justice has decided it’s not going to prosecute or even investigate Nevada Senators Harry Reid and Mike Lee. One Democrat and one Republican. It apparently doesn’t matter what they did, they’ve been declared off-limits and the FBI has been ordered off the case!

There are lots of honest people in Nevada. I have some very good friends who live in Nevada. But it’s time to let you know, folks, the stench rising from your state is beyond polite description. You folks need to pay attention to the headlines. Your state’s economy is based on tourism and tourists don’t want to get pummeled and robbed. Home buyers don’t want the value of their vacation homes to drop 80 and 90 percent. A lot of Vistana homeowners were made penniless by these criminals.

Get with it, Nevada! Sniff the air!

The Arizona House Government Committee is chaired by Rep. Michelle Ugenti. Why hasn’t she held her House GOV committee meetings for the past 3 weeks, 4 in total (just under 50% not meeting)?

Last session she attached her twice defeated HOA omnibus bill, HB 2371, in the waning hours of the last meeting of the session causing Senator Griffin’s SB 1454 to violate the Arizona Constitution and House Rules. A law suit was filed and the attached Ugenti amendments were declared invalid. However, ARS as posted on the Legislative website, ALIS, still shows the invalid laws without any annotation as to their unconstitutionality.

How To Dump A Homeowners Rights Activist

Ah, dear Rancho Santa Fe. All eyes are on ye.

What happens when a board president tries to represent homeowners in a dispute over millions of bucks going into the pockets of managers? Well, you just slap her upside the head. And toss that woman off.

Incredible.

According to the story linked below, Ann Boon, president of Rancho Santa Fe Homeowners Association just wanted to raise a few questions about the unusually high salaries going to HOA managers. The salaries were approved IN SECRET by a three member minority of the seven-member board. And Boon was never included in discussions of the eye-popping salaries.

No problem. The board members protecting the management company against any questions of inappropriate behavior just voted Boon out of office. It was 5-2. Majority rules.

Egads, you would never find this kind of behavior in a traditional government institution where the public has a right to know how money is being spent. But once you’re inside of the phony ‘governments’ of Homeowners Association all bets are off.

Carona Bites The Big One!!!

Not in a million years would I have predicted this one. But perhaps the most ethically challenged senator in Texas state history has lost his bid for re-election.

For 24 years, John Carona has reigned supreme. From his position as Texas State Senator he has built a multi billion dollar company managing 8000 homeowners associations across the country. Around his HOAs he has built banks, insurance companies, landscaping firms. Homeowners who had the misfortune of living in those neighborhoods learned more than anyone else what the phrase ‘lawn Nazi’ means.

Carona lost by just a few hundred votes. Obviously, recounts are being demanded. But at this point it looks like this is one election Carona couldn’t buy. He will still be able to retire as one of the richest men in Texas and he will still reign over those hundreds of thousands of hapless homeowners. And among many of them Carona won’t be ‘former senator,’ he’ll be ‘ex-senator.’

Our political system is slow. But unlike many others, it is eventually self-correcting.

Will wonders never cease!

A hellaciously ugly anti-homeowner bill is about to end up in Virginia law books. It essentially does away with ALL Constitutional rights of people in Homeowners Associations. And I’ve warned people all over the country to quit thinking about HOAs as Democrat, Republican, Tea Party, liberal or conservative. HOAs are about communes (communism), flavored with a healthy splash of fascism (the lawn Nazis).

Well, Glory be! Virginia lawmakers from the Tea Party wing of the Republicans are joining Democrats in trying to wake their fellow-legislators up. This bill is beyond bad. This link to the Virginia bureau Watchdog.org is worth reading!
